Lufthansa is expanding its long-haul route network, flying for the first time from Frankfurt to San Diego and from Munich to Singapore.

Flights will head to San Diego five times per week starting from Summer 2018. California’s second-largest city is in the south west of the state, near the border with Mexico. San Diego is also a center of the biotech and telecommunications industries.

Summer 2018 will also see the addition of a further five new flights per week from Munich to Singapore. Lufthansa is also set to sharply increase the frequency of its flights from Munich to Chicago (USA). Flights to the “Windy City” on Lake Michigan will increase from seven to ten per week.

Also starting from Summer 2018, Lufthansa will base five of its 14 Airbus A380s at Munich to serve long-haul destinations Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Beijing.
