Vienna Airport introduces new liquid scanners
Vienna International Airport is upgrading its security screening technology ahead of the peak summer travel season.
The current 100 ml liquid limit in hand luggage is expected to be lifted once the rollout of new scanners is fully completed.
The new systems use CT-based 3D imaging, allowing security staff to inspect liquids and electronic devices without requiring passengers to remove them from their bags. This is expected to improve processing times and make security checks more efficient.
However, the updated liquid allowance (up to 2 litres per container) is not yet in effect.
The airport emphasizes that the change will only apply after the full installation is completed.
