New security scanners at Heathrow airport
Heathrow has now completed the upgrade of its security scanners across all terminals, including Terminal 5.
This enhancement will streamline the security process and reduce time spent preparing bags.
When travelling through Heathrow, passengers now can:
- Keep all liquids inside the cabin bag.
- Carry liquids in individual containers of up to 2 litres each.
- Leave laptops, tablets, and other large electronics inside the bag.
- Proceed through security without removing these items.
Security rules may differ, as not all airports have implemented next‑generation scanners. Before travelling from any other UK or international airport, please check that airport’s specific liquid and screening regulations.
