Austrian Airlines relies on sustainable aviation fuel
OMV and Austrian Airlines are producing and refueling regional, sustainable aviation fuel in Austria for the first time.
Austrian Airlines relies on sustainable aviation fuel and reports that the production and refueling of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) in the amount of 1,500 tons has been agreed for the coming year.
At the OMV Schwechat refinery, SAF is produced by processing Austrian used cooking oil in the production process. In this way, the entire production chain is kept as regional as possible and transport routes are reduced to a minimum. The aviation industry is working hard to reduce kerosene consumption and CO2 emissions, and sustainable aviation fuels are a key technology for this.
