Biometric face recognition at Vienna Airport
Austrian Airlines and Vienna Airport optimize travel comfort.
On November 9th, Austrian Airlines and Vienna Airport started with the biometric face recognition, thus enabling contactless take-offs.
This should not only make the travel experience even more comfortable, in times of increased hygiene standards it is also an important contribution to health protection. Travelers can keep their FFP2 mask, which they have to wear in the terminal, even during the biometric identity verification, as this does not affect the identification of the passengers.
The service offer is initially available exclusively to Miles & More members. Customers have to register once in the app and agree to participate in biometrics. Austrian Airlines ensures that personal data is encrypted and stored securely in compliance with data protection laws.
In addition to Vienna, the contactless passenger journey is already possible in Frankfurt and Munich.
